Breast Cancer Breast Cancer Treatment Hormone Therapy

Hormonal treatment for breast cancer actually lowers, rather than replaces, estrogen in the body

Many breast cancers grow in response to the cancer cell's interaction with estrogen. By lowering the levels of estrogen in a woman's body with hormonal treatment, the cancer may be less likely to grow. Many people confuse this treatment with "hormone replacement therapy," which, as it's name implies, replaces the lost estrogen that occurs during menopause.
